Job Description

MUSC Health Columbia is seeking a skilled Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join a growing practice in Columbia, SC. The qualified CRNA will work in collaboration with a dedicated Anesthesia Care Team comprised of experienced CRNAs, and board-certified anesthesiologists serving Columbia, SC, and the surrounding communities.

Job Details:

  • This role will focus on a broad mix of cases across MUSC Health’s two campuses in Columbia, SC
  • Qualified candidates should have experience administering major vascular anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, neuroanesthesia, regional anesthesia, orthopaedic anesthesia, and anesthesia for outpatient surgery
  • Must be certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Life Support (PALS)
  • The CRNA will work at MUSC Health’s main campus in downtown Columbia, SC, and MUSC Health Northeast

Minimum Training and Education: 

Must be a graduate of the Council on Accreditation’s Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs’ approved programs of anesthesia, certified, or recertified by the National Board on Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists, and insurable by the medical malpractice insurer of MUSC for the required limits. The minimum education requirement for those hired after March 1, 2019, is a master’s degree, or higher, with the concentration in Nurse Anesthesia. Must demonstrate current competency in the clinical privileges extended. Must be proficient in the operation of anesthesia equipment and have current knowledge in anesthesia practice. Must exhibit basic knowledge of safety in a health care facility. Knowledge and practice of universal precautions in patient contact is required. Must be able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with surgeons, residents, anesthesia personnel, and nursing staff. Guidelines for practice are described in the departmental policy and procedure book. CRNAs practice under the clinical supervision of the anesthesiologist and the administrative supervision of the CRNA manager.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: 

Must be recognized as an APRN or be eligible, with current license to practice, or eligibility to obtain practice in the state of South Carolina. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS course is required. Must be certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Life Support (PALS).
