Job Description Summary
To actively coordinate, on a day-to-day basis, the provision of high quality, comprehensive pharmaceutical care to the patients of MUSC, in compliance with federal and state legal/regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards. This includes: (1) involvement with multiple drug distribution functions (inclusive of computerized order entry and/or prospective review and verification of physicians’ orders, IV admixture preparation, etc.); (2) defined clinical/cognitive activities to optimize therapeutic outcomes under the aegis of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee directives (which include active communication with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff about the need to clarify and/or change an order along with documentation of intervention outcomes); (3) educational activities with pharmacist colleagues and other health care professionals (e.g., physicians, nurses, etc.) to maintain and advance clinical competency vis-à-vis drug therapy; and, (4) “supervisory” functions which provide professional oversight and direction of technicians’ drug preparation and distribution activities to assure safe and expedient provision of pharmaceutical care to SRMC patients and staff.Entity

Job Description
Compounds and dispenses prescribed drugs per physician's instructions in a hospital or healthcare facility setting. Consults with medical staff about potential drug interactions, patient medical history, and the use of particular medications. Responds to questions from patients about medications and dosage instructions. Ensures that all required pharmacy data is recorded and maintained and complies with all regulatory, security and hospital procedures.
Additional Job Description
Education:
- Entry-level pharmacy degree (e.g., B.Sc, Pharm.D) from an accredited college of pharmacy

- Pharmacist licensure in SC or eligibility for licensure via examination or reciprocity
