Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Staff Management & Assignment: Ensure that appropriate and adequately skilled staff are assigned to surgical cases, in alignment with case needs.
  • Feedback & Performance Management: Administer constructive feedback for Clinical Team Members (CTMs) and be involved in their annual evaluations. Address performance and behavioral issues promptly, consulting with CSL and the manager when necessary.
  • Collaboration Across Leadership: Work closely with Perioperative Leadership and other teams to standardize and optimize perioperative workflows, improving quality, efficiency, and operational outcomes.
  • Policy & Procedure Adherence: Lead the team to follow best practices (AORN guidelines), and work collaboratively with SPD (Sterile Processing Department) leadership to foster a culture of safety and teamwork.
  • Committee Leadership & Communication: Lead or co-lead Working Specialty Groups (WSGs), ensuring CTMs attend regularly, documenting issues and solutions, and effectively communicating to the Perioperative Operations Group (POG).
  • Incident Management: Participate in S3/RCA events (Root Cause Analysis) and action planning, ensuring continuous improvement in practices.
  • Collaborative Staffing Solutions: Work with the Surgical Services leadership to provide staffing solutions across different specialties.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Training and Education: Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. Previous leadership experience is required.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
