Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Implementation Science Faculty Member to join our dynamic and growing team within the MUSC Department of Surgery. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role working with surgeon scientists to advance evidence-based practices and improve healthcare delivery through the application of implementation science principles. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and lead or co-lead innovative research and clinical initiatives.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Identify, lead, collaborate, and co-create research projects applying implementation science frameworks to surgical interventions and healthcare practices
- Develop and co-develop proposals, protocols, and grant applications focused on implementation science
- Disseminate findings via abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations
- Develop and deliver curriculum in implementation science for surgical trainees, residents, and fellows
- Mentor students, residents, and junior faculty in research methodology, grant writing, and scholarly activities related to implementation science
- Provide consultation to surgeons and healthcare providers on strategies for successful implementation and sustainability of innovations
- Establish collaborations with other departments, institutions, and industry partners to promote interdisciplinary research and clinical initiatives
- Participate in departmental and institutional committees focused on quality improvement and patient outcomes
- Identify funding opportunities and secure grants from federal agencies, foundations, and industry sponsors to support implementation science research in surgery
- Contribute to the academic reputation and strategic goals of the department and institution
Required Experience and Skills:
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D., or equivalent) in implementation science, health services research, public health, or a related field, new graduates welcome to apply
- Knowledge and experience using implementation science frameworks (e.g., RE-AIM, CFIR) and methodologies (quantitative and qualitative) applicable to healthcare
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and across organizational boundaries
- Flexibility to thrive in a dynamic academic environment with competing priorities and deadlines
