Job Description

The Program Coordinator will be primarily responsible for providing programmatic support for our Telehealth Outreach to Rural South Carolina Children with Asthma (TRSCA) program.  This role will also include implementation and recruitment for multiple studies in the areas of asthma and acute infection prevention and treatment. Primary activities include communicating with (and recruiting) families, agencies, and organizations across the state of South Carolina.

The  Program Coordinator will also assist with data collection, procurement of research supplies, communication with study sponsors, and planning and conducting of community outreach events. Additionally, the Program Coordinator will manage social media and media advertising in collaboration with MUSC Health and MUSC Children’s Health as well as design flyers for community outreach events.  The position will include travel within the state of South Carolina and after hours work in order to assist with the development of  statewide partnerships or to assist families in completing study related activities.

The Program Coordinator may assist the Principal Investigator with IRB-related issues as well as helping to prepare new grants / clinical trials. The Program Coordinator will be expected to organize and lead regular team meetings with the Principal Investigator and study team members and provide updates and study progress.

Job Responsibilities:

30% - Assisting participants throughout the entire research process for all current studies, including registration/consent , scheduling, implementing study procedures, and other participant-related duties.

Once participants have committed to participate, responsible for screening and onboarding, troubleshooting participant concerns, obtaining ongoing consents , and scheduling the other coordinators to meet study timelines.

30% - Responsible for working with PI to ensure a smooth flow and exchange of information. Assist with the preparation of annual reports and IRB communications.

Provide administrative assistance such as filing of documents, entering data responses to queries, providing feedback regarding study processes, and ensure approved and current protocols and paperwork is complete and filed appropriately

Creates and develops simple to complex databases using research methodology knowledge.  Identifies trends, outliers, and discrepancies in the data and implements corrective action plans.

25% - Along with the PI, design the recruitment strategy to maximize the impact of the studies. Once up and running, oversee recruitment of participants for all studies. Communicate with statewide agencies and organizations in order to enhance recruitment efforts and assist with social media strategies focused on study recruitment. Analyze the success various recruitment methods and use this information to guide future recruitment strategies for the team.

5% - Along with the PI, lead the development and implementation planning for new studies, including planning site qualification visits and assisting with grant preparation. Help to develop standard operating procedures for new studies.

5% - Responsible for the procurement and appropriate documentation for all grant related purchases in adherence with grant funding requirements and University rules and regulations.

5% - Other duties as assigned.
