Job Description Summary

The Operating Room (OR) Liaison reports to the OR Liaison Supervisor. Under general supervision, the OR Liaison performs daily activities between the OR and Sterile Processing Department to facilitate efficient case flow to include communication with the OR staff to ensure availability of specific instrument and supply needs and transport of appropriate instruments to the designated cleaning area as needed. This position promotes customer service satisfaction through training, education, and resolution of staff and physicians.
Minimum Training and Education: Graduation from an accredited school of surgical technology or surgical technology military program and credentialed as a Certified Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, (formerly LCC-ST) and two (2) years of work experience in Sterile Processing and/or scrub tech work experience; or an Associate’s degree in a related field and at least two (2) years of significant hospital work experience in Sterile Processing and/or scrub tech work experience in the Operating Room; or high school diploma or equivalency (GED) and four (4) years of significant hospital work experience in Sterile Processing and/or scrub tech work experience in the Operating Room required. Certification from an accredited certifying agency in sterile processing are required or must obtained within 12 months of hire. A thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and software programs relevant to the work area required. Must have the ability to build and maintain relationships; execute customer service, leadership, adaptability, and problem solving.
