Job Description Summary

The US Technologist, under the direction of the Radiologist and Radiology Director, performs all procedures in accordance with ACR, ARRT, state regulations, and departmental policies. The US tech is responsible for ensuring patient safety and comfort during procedures. Possesses highly technical skills to operate sophisticated equipment for the above mentioned examinations. The technologist must exhibit expertise in patient care based on needs appropriate for all patient demographics. Other duties as deemed necessary.

Job Description

Operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed. Reviews physician requisition orders and instructions concerning patient preparation for ultrasound procedure. May communicates to OB/GYN nursing team status of patient condition pre and post procedure. Performs ultrasound imaging for fetal diagnosis and anomaly detection for patients with high risk indications.

Additional Job Description

Education: Graduate of an approved and accredited Ultrasound program

Experience:  3-5 years of experience in US preferred. Skills include demonstrated ability to remain flexible in a rapidly changing environment and current dynamic health care climate. Demonstrates the ability to plan, design, implement and evaluate one’s own work and to work independently with minimal observation or supervision. Human relation skills include the demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively and to work collaboratively with multiple coworkers of diverse cultures, educational backgrounds, and experience. Political process skills include the ability to build partnerships with physicians and others. Must possess ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public. Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when minimal to no directions are given. Requires good interpersonal skills. Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written.  Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands/deadlines. Position may require some overtime, on call responsibilities, and ability to coordinate several activities simultaneously. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress. Must be able to follow instructions and document care given. Must possess the ability to plan and organize.  

  •  Licenses/Certificates:                                                                                                           
  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or ARDMS registered or registry eligible
  • CPR certification required.
