TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year as reviewed and established annually by the Board of Education
EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated regularly in accordance with the Board’s
policy on the evaluation of certified staff.
JOB SUMMARY
Assists in planning, developing, and implementing the practical nursing curriculum. As a faculty member, shall confine
activities to the educational program and shall not be a part of the nursing service for the school. To help students learn
subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.
The job description will be used as a guideline for the summative evaluation report.

1. Knows the philosophy and objectives of the nursing program and assist in how these objectives may be
achieved.
3. Serves as a member of the faculty committee, curriculum committee, selection committee, and advisory
committee.
4. Meets minimum standards as set by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
5. Participates in the development of departmental and institutional policies.
6. Maintains clinical and educational competencies in areas of instructional responsibilities.
7. Assists in the instruction and evaluation of students.
8. Assists in recruitment, selection, retention, and promotion of students.
9. Maintains records of students and ensures confidentiality of those records.
10. Assists with the ongoing systematic development, implementation, and evaluation of the program.
11. Be cognizant of individual student needs and assist when needed in theory as well as in clinical rotations.
12. Makes the assignments for the students in the clinical areas rotating them so each student will have a variety
of experiences.
13. Participates in planning the budget for equipment and textbooks.
14. Assists in ensuring availability of academic advisement and guidance of students.
15. All faculty members should participate in continuing education programs.
16. Holds membership and is active in professional nursing organizations.
17. Participates in activities and assignments as requested at Waynesville Career Center and the Practical
Nursing Program.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The individual must be able to perform each essential job duty and

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND/OR CERTIFICATION
1. Meet the qualifications specified by the Missouri State Board of Nursing’s minimum standards for accreditation.
2. Currently licensed to practice professional nursing in Missouri.
3. Personal attributes, preparation, and qualifications to ensure competency in the position for which appointed.
4. Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to
perform the essential functions of the position.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may deem appropriate or acceptable.

Work is performed in and around a student learning environment. Employee experiences constant interruptions and
inflexible deadlines. The noise level in this environment is quiet to loud. Duties are performed primarily indoors and

responsibilities.
