Job Summary/Purpose: The Educator reports to the Division Director of Education. The Educator develops and conducts education programs that enable staff across the division to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to support unit(s), Service Line and Medical Center goals. Goals include achievement of clinical and quality measures, operational efficiency, financial targets as well as population/age specific needs of the assigned department(s). OR experience required.

Minimum Training and Education: 

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing and a minimum of three years of applied clinical experience as an RN. Master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing preferred.  A Master’s Degree in Nursing may be substituted for 1 year of required experience.  OR experience required.

Will require extensive knowledge of varying patient populations, health care trends, community and regional resources and service availability to these populations. There will be a focus on Surgical Services education.

Must possess ability to establish comparative working relationships with diverse groups and individuals, medical staff, and other health care disciplines.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:

Current South Carolina licensure as a registered nurse or compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, from the American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent), as well as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Certified Perioperative Nurse CNOR Certification required.

(Infrequent) Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force. (Frequent) Examples include: To transfer a 100 lb. patient that can not assist in the transfer requires 50 lbs. of force. For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. Additional Job Description

Current South Carolina licensure as a registered nurse or compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Other certifications may be required to maintain employment for a respective department.
