Job Description Summary

The James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine, Medical University of South Carolina is seeking applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position in the Division of Diagnostic Services and Sciences, Department of Biomedical and Community Health Sciences. The primary responsibility of this position involves the clinical supervision and training of pre-doctoral dental students, with emphasis placed on the diagnostic management of medically complex patients who present for treatment in our Urgent Care Clinic. The position will include opportunities in didactic teaching, service, and research across the full spectrum of emergency dental care and oral medicine. With regards to teaching, the position is responsible for serving as Course Director for two pre-doctoral courses: Advanced Treatment Planning and General and Systemic Pathology. An academic focus is expected and can be developed in any number of areas across school programs and strengths. The candidate with competitive credentials may be eligible for the appointment of Division Chief.

Job Description

The James B. Qualified candidates must have a DMD or DDS degree.  Experience in educational innovation, use of technology in education and computer skills are expected with preference given to those with previous teaching and research experience.  Completion of advanced training programs in Advanced Education in General Dentistry, General Practice Residency, or Oral Medicine is preferred.

Successful applicants should have a South Carolina dental license or meet the requirements for obtaining a teaching license. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience. Participation in the College’s Dental Faculty Practice for private patient care is highly encouraged.
