Job Description

The Sterile Processing Technician is assigned duties performing decontamination, preparation, sterilization and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment and utilizing infection control and safety practices during all phases of the process.

Additional Job Description

Bachelors in a healthcare or related field and three (3) years of significant hospital work experience in Sterile Processing and/or Operating Room; or high school diploma or equivalency (GED) and five (5) years of significant hospital work experience in Sterile Processing and/or Operating work experience.  Previous supervisory experience preferred.  Current Certified Registered Sterile Processing Technician and Instrument Processing Certification preferred.  Certification must be obtained within 36 months and in two attempts for certification or will result in demotion or separation of employment. Must be skilled in computer operation and in working with the following programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Instrument Tracking System.
