Job Description
Individual works closely with the Supervisor and assists in the oversight of work processes and work groups within the laboratory. Is responsible for relaying communications between management and staff. Assists with problem resolution to technical and personnel issues that surface in daily laboratory operations. Leads team building effort and fosters an open and creative environment within the laboratory. Attends meetings and makes recommendations to streamline workflows between the laboratory and the clinics to better serve patient care. Assists with the validation, optimization, and implementation of highly complex state of the art technologies in a rapidly growing laboratory. Serves as subject matter expert on laboratory procedures, and contact person for troubleshooting of assays and instrumentation. Shares responsibility for training and competency assessments of laboratory staff, and collaborates with supervisor on performance management and quality issues. Maintains the laboratory in a constant state of readiness, and in compliance with all applicable accreditation standards.
Education: Graduate of an accredited/NAACLS approved program for Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
Experience: 2-4 years as a Medical Technologist REQUIRED
Licenses/Certificates: Certification as a laboratory professional by ASCP, AMT, NCA, or HEW needed
