PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Under general supervision, maintains cleanliness and sanitation of the building assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education/Certification - High school diploma or GED preferred
  2. Licenses - Valid Georgia driver’s license and safe driving record
  3. Physical Demands
    • Be able to stand and walk the majority of the day
    • Lift and carry twenty (20) to thirty (30) pounds and on occasion up to one hundred (100) pounds
    • Push or pull the same weight amounts
    • Frequent bending and stooping
    • Be able to work off ladders and lifts
    • Frequent use of chemicals and aerosols
  4. Experience

  • Two (2) years custodial experience in a school system preferred.

  4. Knowledgeable about cleaning methods and cleaning materials

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  1. Act as shift supervisor to ensure that all custodial duties are complete each day in the absence of the head custodian.
  2. Report all problems and concerns that develop during the shift to Head Custodian.
  3. Ensure that the school building is secure and all doors locked at the end of the shift or open the building at the beginning of each day. Works shift opposite Head Custodian to ensure full coverage of building security.
  4. Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic custodial duties as instructed and outlined on work schedule.
  5. Perform general building maintenance including replacing ceiling tiles and light bulbs when needed.
  6. Maintain all classrooms, public areas, offices and restrooms in a clean and sanitary condition.
  7. Dispose of wastes properly and in the manner directed.
  8. Perform general grounds maintenance when needed.
  9. Use all equipment appropriately and safely.
  10. Maintain all custodial equipment properly and keep equipment clean.
  11. Use custodial supplies and chemicals properly and efficiently.
  12. Assist in the recycling program for building.
  13. Report any maintenance problems to the Head Custodian.
  14. Follow all general safety, chemical safety and fire regulations.
  15. Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal, Head Custodian or Custodial Services Manager.
