Job Description Summary

Under the direction of the Resiliency Program Manager, the Resilience Trainer & Coordinator will provide resiliency support to all MUSC faculty, staff and employees within the MUSC Resiliency Program in the Sleep and Anxiety Treatment & Research Program. This position will implement, review, develop, coordinate and administer comprehensive programs that promote an environment which supports and increases the resiliency of all professionals. Evidence based interventions including psychological first aid, skills for psychological recovery, strength based cognitive behavioral interventions will be provided during individual sessions as well as in group formats and larger workshops. Assisting health care providers in assessment of and implementing communication skills, managing conflict, and fostering group cohesion to strengthen support and resilience will be core components of responsibilities.

Providing crisis response and peer support to healthcare team members for critical incidents. Responsibilities will be conducted both virtually and in person in hospital-based settings at MUSC Health Florence. Interdisciplinary team collaboration is essential. This position requires flexible job hours including some nights and weekends to tend to healthcare team member schedules.

Please note that while this role is based at MUSC Health Florence, there will be occasions when travel to other MUSC Health locations is necessary.

Job Description

FLSA: Salaried

Work Schedule: M-F, Hours to be Determined Upon Hire

Job Duties:

  • 15% - Provide evidence-based unit and group assessments, including semi-structured interviews and self-report measures. Assessments will include suicide screening and intervention. These assessments will be provided in a variety of locations within units across MUSC Health Florence hospital depending on client and program needs. In addition, services may be provided via telemental health using a HIPAA compliant videoconferencing platform to reduce barriers to accessing services.  
  • 15% - Provide individual resiliency sessions to healthcare team members. Resiliency sessions include stress management, mindfulness, strengths-based interventions, self-care strategies, and problem-solving skills.
  • 15% - Facilitate peer support and crisis intervention for critical incidents for healthcare team members.
  • 15% - Provide workshops group interventions related to team communication, managing conflict, stress and burnout, resiliency, anxiety, mindfulness and sleep.
  • 10% - Assist with organization and implementation of peer support program which will include triaging of incoming support request, assisting in training of peer support team members, assisting in peer support delivery for critical incidents.
  • 10% - Works creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment fostering teamwork, innovation, and excellence. Actively leads program meetings, providing meaningful contributions that drive decision-making and clearly identifies next steps. Works within healthcare culture to achieve innovative and actionable outcomes that promote well-being.
  • 10% - Participate in planning and implementation team meetings with wellbeing stakeholders.
  • 5% - Assist with program evaluation and tracking of activities for reports.
  • 5% - Conduct other administrative duties.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of Two (2) years of experience, including project development and Resilience Training or Health Coaching.  Experience in a relevant discipline such as health education, positive psychology, nursing, or basic science. Equivalent clinical and administrative experience is desirable. Experience with department data collections and outcome reporting preferred.
  • Must have a strong work ethic with the ability to understand, demonstrate and promote the mission, vision and values and Standards of Professional Behaviors of MUSC.
  • Knowledge and skills with working with a very diverse population is required.
  • Experience in cognitive behavioral approaches is highly recommended and an understanding of the application of the PERMA Model of Well-Being in Healthcare settings.
  • Comfortable providing services via virtual platforms.
  • Experience in wellbeing and resilience-based strategies approaches helpful and has the capability and willingness to practice and model self-care techniques taught to healthcare professionals.
  • Experience in large group training and presentations with enhanced communication and engagement skills orally and physically.
  • Experience and knowledgeable of healthcare systems a plus.
  • Knowledge of various software programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint a plus. 
  • Ability to remain calm, maintain professional boundaries, and build a strong therapeutic alliance while in stressful and highly emotional situations.
  • Ability to plan and organize work activities and prioritize task completion according to schedules and goals.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures helpful.
  • Flexible schedule needed for early morning, evening and weekend hours to accommodate healthcare worker schedules with strong time management skills.
  • This position will be in person at MUSC Health Florence in healthcare settings with some virtual work.
  • Previous or current work in employee relations facilitation
  • Previous or current work in employee engagement and leadership development
  • Prior experience in employee mediation a plus
  • Familiarity with employee life cycle a plus
