Job Description Summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a dedicated and experienced Pharmacy Manager for Compounding Services to join our dynamic healthcare team. As a vital leader in our pharmacy department, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest quality patient care, promoting safety, and optimizing pharmacy operations in our renowned healthcare facility.  The Compounding Services Pharmacy Manager will be responsible for daily operations within the compounding pharmacy, including oversight of the compounding pharmacy staff pharmacists and certified pharmacy technicians. You will support the scale-up of growing compounding capabilities, as well as acting as a stakeholder in the development of new compounded treatments. You will strive to maximize quality and patient safety while dispensing medication in accordance with federal and state pharmacy regulations.

  • Maintain protocols and data relevant to compounded non-sterile products
  • Review/Revise/Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Understand Pharmacy Standards of Practice

Additional Job Description

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm. D. degree is required.  Advanced business degree and/or completion of a Residency program preferred.
  • Licensure: Current pharmacist license in good standing with South Carolina State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years pharmacy management experience preferred.  3-4 years of pharmacy experience in a compounding pharmacy setting. Experience with 503b pharmacy preferred.  Familiarity with USP chapters 795, 797, and 800 is a must.
  • Technology: Familiar with pharmacy software systems and ability/willingness to learn new systems.
