The MUSC Department of Public Health Sciences and NCI-designated MUSC Hollings Cancer Center are recruiting a full-time early career (Assistant Professor or early Associate Professor) tenure track faculty of exceptional potential and emerging scholarship to enhance strategic growth in its cancer survivorship research portfolio. Founded in 2022 to meet the needs of the growing population of cancer survivors and their caregivers, the Survivorship and Cancer Outcomes Research (SCOR) Initiative at the NCI-designated MUSC Hollings Cancer Center provides a transdisciplinary hub for collaborative research between clinicians and researchers in survivorship, cancer care delivery and cancer outcomes. SCOR is dedicated to 1) delivering evidence based, equitable, accessible, and patient-centered care to cancer survivors; 2) fostering transformative and paradigm-changing research in cancer survivorship, outcomes, and care delivery; and 3) establishing a pipeline to inspire, train, and advance the next generation of survivorship researchers. SCOR and DPHS faculty leadership maintain an environment that values diversity and nurtures collaboration, creativity, and innovation. SCOR faculty work closely with scientists in the HCC Research Programs and the broader MUSC public health community to deploy and evaluate innovative approaches to improve population health among patients with cancer. Research is encouraged to focus on the cancer center’s catchment area, which features a high proportion of patients who are racially and ethnically diverse, rural, and medically underserved.

Minimum Qualifications:

MD equivalent doctoral degree in public health, health services research, psychology, health behavior, nursing, health economics, or a health-related social sciences field

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a program of high quality extramurally-funded research in cancer survivorship, care delivery, and/or outcomes.
• Collaborate with other cancer center faculty members via interdisciplinary research teams.
• Participate in the intellectual life of the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center and Department of Public Health Sciences
• Teaching opportunities will be considered based on the candidate’s interests.
