Job Description Summary

The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences is seeking a Human Services Coordinator II for the National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center Division. This human service coordinator will lead operations of the sexual assault services within the National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center (NCVC) and manage project initiatives aimed at improving and expanding sexual assault services within the division. Clinician will lead the planning and implementation of community resiliency building related to sexual assault prevention and response in coordination with local victim advocacy agencies. An emphasis will be placed on increasing reach of sexual assault services for underserved populations (e.g., LGBTQI, Black/African American, and Spanish Speaking survivors. The candidate will provide evidence-based trauma focused mental health services for victims of crime with a specific focus on recent sexual assault victims.

The position includes both early intervention and longer-term trauma counseling via community-based approaches. Duties also involve organizing and leading meetings with community partners, evaluating program data, and managing program databases.

Job Description

FLSA: Salaried


Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30AM - 5:00PM. This is mainly an in-person position with some remote work allowable; Occasional evening and weekend hours especially for community events required. 

Job Duties:

  • 25% - Provide mental health assessments and evidence-based counseling to sexual assault victims and victims of other crime per week. Conduct mental health assessments to determine impact of victimization to facilitate treatment planning. Services will include individual and family therapy, with a focus on providing Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Written Exposure Therapy. Therapy will be offered in-person, in community, and via telehealth. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy may also be offered.
  • 20% - Provide evidence-based early intervention services to recent sexual assault survivors per week. These services include: 1) screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment (SBIRT); 2) Skills for Psychological Recovery (SPR): 3) clinic phone screens; 4) case management; and 5) interagency collaboration. If there are not 10 hours per week of early interventions services to provide to recent sexual assault survivors, remaining hours should be used to provide evidence-based counseling services, assist the general NCVC clinic complete phone screens, or other administrative duties.
  • 15% - Lead planning and implementation of sexual assault services within an outpatient mental health clinic. This includes managing project initiatives focused on expanding services and community resiliency building related to sexual assault prevention and response in coordination with local victim advocacy agencies. Additional responsibilities will include triaging referrals from community agencies to staff and updating program materials (e.g., websites, brochures).
  • 15% - Participate in team meetings and community-based meetings as well as provide community trainings on trauma and victimization. Facilitate monthly community partnership meeting.
  • 10% - Track program reporting information and victim services documentation in an excel database. The coordinator will maintain and clean victim reporting database for quarterly reporting basis. This will include presenting data in figures and chart for review.
  • 10% - Conduct medical documentation.
  • 5% - Other duties as assigned.


Preferred Experience & Additional Skills: Experience with leadership, supervision, and working with survivors of sexual assault encouraged. Comfortable providing community-based outreach services. Experience working with multidisciplinary teams. Experience tracking service delivery. Knowledgeable with Excel. Knowledgeable with RedCap. Knowledge of various software programs such as SPSS, Word, Access, PowerPoint a plus. 

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to plan and organize work activities and prioritize task completion according to schedules and goals. Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures helpful.  A strong work ethic.  

  • Have a license or be license eligible to provide mental health counseling/therapy.
  • 1 year of outpatient counseling experience and case management experience.
  • Previous work with victims of crime or substance use, a plus. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to prioritize task completion according to schedules and goals. Ability to exercise judgement and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures helpful.
